Toyota 86 TRD: limited edition model set for UK release

The limited edition Toyota 86 TRD has been revealed ahead of its UK release next month.

Limited to only 250 examples, the Toyota 86 TRD is the first Toyota created for the UK specifically using genuine TRD (Toyota Racing Development) parts.

Available with either a six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic, the Toyota 86 TRD (Toyota GT86 in the UK) gets a new deeper front lip, more aggressive side skirts, rear diffuser, 18-inch TRD cast alloy wheels and a fast-response quad-exhaust system.

Further TRD touches include a TRD radiator cap and fuel filler cover and a new TRD shift knob.

The 86’s 147kW/205Nm naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder ‘Boxer’ engine remains unchanged, as do its performance figures of 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds (8.4sec auto) and 225km/h top speed (209km/h auto).
The Toyota 86 TRD is available in Pearl White and GT86 Black, with on-road prices starting at £31,495 ($48,068).

Sadly, Toyota Australia’s Mike Breen told CarAdvice there are no plans to introduce the model, or any other limited edition version, to the Australian market, with demand for the standard car remaining strong.
